Bernie Sanders supporters

Comments:
Dr. Steele--

Now that we've had three Democratic Party nominating contests, I'm wondering how you see the primary season shaping up from this point forward. Does Bernie get the nomination? Or are you sticking with your prediction from January about Biden?

If Sanders does get the nomination, what does the general election look like with a Trump vs. Sanders matchup? I'm seeing a lot of right-leaning folks on Twitter this morning sounding the alarm that Sanders won't be the easy race that Trump supporters may hope--particularly if there's an economic downturn.

For instance, some are saying that the coronavirus is going to cause a disruption in the supply chains for goods manufactured in China, particularly pharmaceuticals, and the economic repercussions will hurt Trump as the year progresses.

Would be interested in hearing your thoughts about these topics.

I don't retract my annual predictions. That would be cheating. But I'm not so sure Comrade Sanders has it sewed up. The Dem establishment appears to be repulsed by him and will make a concerted effort to stop him, and I'm sure they have plenty of tricks up their sleeves. The Democrat establishment is a crooked and ruthless bunch. (Competent? Well that's another matter...)

Sanders as candidate? I think he loses, overwhelmingly. But it is scary. I think he really is a communist, and such people should never, ever be allowed so close to power. This is time to attack and discredit socialism as much as possible -- I hope Sanders and communism are both lambasted as the vile, hateful, homicidal things they are.

As for coronavirus, my guess at present is that it will settle down soon. If not, the economic repercussions will be much greater than a Chinese recession and supply disruption. Supposedly one half of China's population is currently under some sort of travel restriction, and the Chinese economy is effectively shut down. Imagine that occurring in the U.S., Canada, and Western Europe as well... that would be a depression unlike anything we've ever seen. If Donald Trump were to show good leadership in such a crisis he'd be re-elected, period.

All of this is rather speculative on my part. Definitive answers will have to wait until I put up an official post. Thanks for your comment.
