Fall of the Wall 30th Anniversary

It's the thirtieth anniversary of the opening of the Berlin Wall. I participated on a panel at Hillsdale College discussing this momentous and wonderful event. I covered the history of the wall, and had two conclusions:

1. Socialism cannot work.

 2. We should never become despondent. The end of Soviet socialism was not foreseen, but unforeseen contingencies have a way of making themselves known.

California fires and the stupidity of Gavin Newsom

The Twitter blows between President Donald Trump and California governor Gavin Newsom have been well publicized.  Mr. Trump points out that California has badly mismanaged its forests.  Newsom responds that Trump has failed to stop climate change.

Donald Trump has correctly identified that proximate cause of California's fires, as this piece from American Thinker shows.  Newsom's rebuttal is ridiculous; even IPCC's models show that zero carbon emissions from the United States would have no influence on alleged climate change, and Trump has no ability to have imposed such drastic reductions.  But that's not what reveals Newsom as astonishingly stupid.

*If* Newsom's complaint against Trump were valid, what would this imply?  It would mean harvesting and wise timber management would be all the more important.  If climate change were really such a pressing issue, then California's failure to manage forests for fire suppression is all the worse.

Do Newsom and the rest of the climatistas actually believe what they say?  Their actions suggest otherwise.

2020 Woodstock Hallucination 100

BREAKING NEWS -- I've just signed up for the 2020 Woodstock Hallucination 100 Mile Race, September 11-12, Hell, Michigan.

Liz J. beat me in signing up; she'll be there too.  I hope to see Mike, Dantastic, and all of my pacers (although I may lose them as pacers -- they may well run themselves), and all the rest of that great crowd!

The adventure continues!
